New to Hockey/OMGHA? Visit our New to Hockey page, New Player Info, Winter Season Info and Intro to Hockey FAQ pages to learn more about our program and our season. Verify your player’s eligibility to play hockey this season with OMGHA prior to registering.

BEFORE REGISTERING, PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

AGE LEVEL AND GRADE LEVEL EXCEPTION
OMGHA player eligibility is governed by Minnesota Hockey eligibility rules. The starting birthdate for each age classification is June 1 to provide players born in June the ability to play with their classmates. Age levels are listed in our player fee chart below.  OMGHA permits players to play up a level if, by age, they are not eligible to play at the same level as their grade level peers per the MN Hockey birthdate ranges (e.g., a player with a July 1 birthday going into 1st grade can play Mite 2/Girl Mite 2 instead of Mite 1/Girl Mite 1). The ability to play up is only offered to allow players to play with friends in their school age and not due to a player’s hockey ability.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT (NEW PLAYERS & PLAYERS NEW TO OMGHA)
USA Hockey requires that all hockey players have a verified birthdate. All players new to OMGHA must submit a copy of their birth certificate or passport (non-US citizens) to complete their registration. Hospital keepsake certificates are not accepted.  All players must have a verified birthdate on file before they are allowed to participate in OMGHA activities. If a player is not a United States citizen they must submit a Youth Transfer Player form each year through USA Hockey. The form can be found on the USA Hockey website. Email asst-registrar@omgha.com to submit the documents or for questions.

USA HOCKEY MEMBERSHIP
All players must have an active 2025-2026 USA Hockey membership number to register with OMGHA. Before starting the registration process through SportsEngine, please have your player registered as a member with USA Hockey. USA Hockey fees range from $17-79 depending on birth year. There is an additional MN Hockey affiliate fee of $10 for each player as well when you register with USA Hockey. These fees are in addition to OMGHA’s player fees and fundraising requirement. Please allow 10-15 minutes after registering with USA Hockey for the membership number to be emailed to you before beginning the OMGHA registration process.

PLAYER/PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
As part of the registration process parents and players agree to follow the OMGHA Player/Parent Codes of Conduct.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES

Travel Players (not including Junior Gold) must register by 9/7/25 to avoid a $100 late fee.

House players who register by 9/7/25 will receive a free OMGHA t-shirt. We encourage all house players to be registered by mid-October but welcome new players to register up until January, if space is available. Contact the House registrar (asst-registrar@omgha.com) for more information.

EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM
OMGHA has a supply of used equipment that can be borrowed, free of charge, by new and returning players. While we prioritize new families and families with financial need, anyone can apply for the program. Contact cultureandinclusion@omgha.com for more info or indicate interest on your registration form.

RESIDENCY & WAIVER INFORMATION

Minnesota Hockey rules dictate player eligibility based on the primary residence of their parent/legal guardian. Players are eligible to play with OMGHA if they legally reside within the boundaries of the ISD 279 Osseo School District. Every registration will be verified before being processed. Families may be asked to verify residence by furnishing proof of address from a driver’s license, lease, utility bill, etc. If it is found that a player is registered using a fraudulent address or fraudulent enrolled school listed, the player will not be allowed to play OMGHA Hockey and all ice fees and registration fees will be forfeited. If you are unsure if your residence is within ISD 279 boundaries or what high school your home address is zoned for you may check it on the ISD 279 district map

Any player residing outside of ISD 279 requires a waiver on file to be eligible to play with OMGHA. This includes players who are open enrolled into ISD 279 or any other school located within ISD 279 boundaries. In January 2024, Minnesota Hockey updated their waiver rules. School waivers for open enrollment will now only be available a player’s first year of travel hockey (Squirt/10U) and for Jr. Gold and U19 players. Waivers for all other levels are discretionary (and rarely approved). Players who received a school waiver prior to the 2024-2025 season are “grandfathered” in and will be allowed to continue playing with OMGHA so long as the conditions of their waiver are met (e.g. continued enrollment in an ISD 279 school).

Additional questions can be directed to president@omgha.com

DIBS/VOLUNTEER POLICY

By registering your player for OMGHA hockey, you confirm that you are aware of our OMGHA Volunteer Policy. Each family commits to at least 15 hours/DIBS credits of volunteer time for one player and 21 hours/DIBS credits for two or more players. A buyout option of $750 per player (max $1,500 per family) is available during the time of registration. If families do not fulfill their DIBS requirement, they will be charged $850 per player (max $1,700 per family) at the end of the season. No DIBS hours are required for Mini-Mite or Junior Gold players. Visit the Volunteer tab for more information and to read the full policy.

Try Hockey For Free Voucher (House Program)

As part of our Try Hockey for Free program, all brand new hockey players in the House program  (Mini-Mite through Super Mite) will receive a $100 voucher that can be used towards the purchase of hockey equipment. Beginning in mid-August, vouchers are typically mailed one week after a player is registered. Players brand new to hockey are also not charged player fees but are responsible for the candy bar fundraiser/buyout.

Fall Camp (Travel)

All travel players are invited to participate in OMGHA’s 2025 Fall Camp. Visit the Fall Camp page for more information.

Rec League Hockey

OMGHA offers a Rec League alternative to our Travel program. Visit the Rec League page for more information. Registration for Rec League typically opens in mid fall.

CANDY BAR FUNDRAISER/BUYOUT OPTION

All players are required to participate in OMGHA’s candy bar fundraiser, with the exception of Mini-Mites, Junior Gold and families with more than 2 players in OMGHA (e.g. a family with 3 players is only required to buyout or have 2 players participate). When registering, you will either choose to purchase the candy bars for $80 OR you may choose the buyout option and pay $50. Fees are due at the time of registration and candy will be delivered when teams are formed. After 9/7/25, only the buyout option is available.

2025-2026 Season Fees

HOUSE PLAYERS: will need to pay in full at time of registration

TRAVEL PLAYERS: will pay $400 (or $450 for AA tryouts) at time of registration. Families will have the option to pay the whole season in full or spread remaining total over 4 additional payments. Travel players are charged a baseline Player Fee  depending on the level the are playing.  After tryouts and team placements are made, certain teams may also have a Roster Fee to cover the cost for their additional ice time and tournaments. This fee will be collected via check at the first team meeting. The goal of the payment process is to create transparency to costs prior to the season and to prevent confusion/create efficiencies around collection of subsidy payments.
